Charles “Chuck” E. Spitzner Jr.’s battle with cancer ended peacefully at his home in Melrose on Saturday, November 20th, 2021 surrounded by his wife and three daughters. Chuck enjoyed playing music, paddling rivers, traveling, and making grammatical corrections to literary work. He always made time to help anyone he came across and his kind, sensible nature will be missed along with his unmatched wit and love for talk radio. We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from Chuck during his 74 years, among them: Learn to tie a proper knot, check the oil in your car every time you buy gas, and always wear a hat when you’re in the sun. Chuck is celebrated by his wife of 42 years, Karan Newman, three daughters, Courtney, Bailey, and Kia, his mother, Renny (98.75), two siblings, Marty and Kathi, and a community of folks that adore him. He remains a man that cannot be captured in 6 sentences and if you didn’t get the chance to meet him, we are truly sorry for your loss.
In lieu of flowers, Chuck's family asks that you consider donating to the Putnam Land Conservancy (https://putnamlandconservancy.org/), go enjoy some time outside, or show a little extra kindness to a stranger.
