Linda Kay Patterson, died peacefully at home, in Gainesville, FL, after a long illness, surrounded by love. She was born in Valparaiso, Indiana to George and Maxine (Bryant) Pierce. As a child, Linda would fondly recall her mother playing the piano and she and her siblings would gather round and sing, at family gatherings. Linda had a beautiful voice and loved to sing. She was a joyful member of Sweet Adelines, and other singing groups.
Linda was a proud graduate of Lowell High School class of 1962.
In 1980, Linda married Daniel Patterson and together they raised 4 children. After retirement, they loved to travel and became “snowbirds” between Indiana and Florida.
She loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Southlake Fundamental Baptist Church, in Crown Point, Indiana and North Gainesville Baptist Church of Gainesville, FL. She was a funny, caring and compassionate friend and family member, who loved to surprise people with little acts of kindness and generosity. She was a strong woman of faith, wholoved to crochet, go shopping, and solve jigsaw puzzles.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Bob and Tom Pierce and a grandson Nathan Merkel.
She leaves behind to mourn her loss, her husband Daniel Patterson, her children Kimberly Ritchie, Ronald Merkel, Jr. (Lena), Elizabeth Wilson (Kelly) and Timothy Merkel (Mandy); her grandchildren, Erin, Bryan, Danika, Andrew, Nicholas, Adam, Evan, Laura, Audrey, Brycen, and her great-grandchildren Hayden, Olivia, Ella, Harrison, Theodore, Elijah, and Ensley.
A memorial service will be held December 14, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. with fellowship beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the Southlake Fundamental Baptist Church, 125 N. Court St., Crown Point, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, Linda would love donations made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital ALSAC/St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

Linda will be greatly missed by all who loved her. The family would like to thank everyone for all expressions of love and support.
