Papa was born on August 26, 1940 to the late Fred Powers and Willie Vera Dixon.
A TIME TO LIVE:
Papa married Patricia Jean Savoy on December 26, 1959 in San Francisco, California. To this union three children were born.
*Employed by VA Hospital for 30 years.
*Lincoln High School Class of 1958 Graduate.
*Joined Navy immediately after high school.
*Played softball worldwide.
*Coached girl’s volleyball and basketball at P.K. Yonge School.
*Coached little league softball and basketball.
*Member of The Negro League Baseball Team.
*Crossing guard fir Alachua County Public Schools.
*Lived his life within the teachings of The Masonic Brotherhood.
Papa thoroughly enjoyed retirement. He was free to support his grandchildren in their sporting endeavors. Coaching softball was Papa’s passion. His true joy was relaxing on his front porch with a big glass of coke.
A TIME TO DIE:
On Friday, May 13, 2022 the book of life was closed for Papa. The Lord reached down from heaven and gathered another one of his angels.
A TIME TO MOURN:
His forever memories will continue to live through the heart of his wife of 62 years, Mrs. Patricia Powers.
