Mr. James Ellis, Jr. of Gainesville, Florida passed away Monday, April 12, 2021.
He was born in Raleigh, N.C. to James Ellis, Sr. & Ida Mae Brooks. In 1965, while living in Bronx, NY, he enlisted in the United States Army. After serving he relocated to Gainesville, Fl and remained since.
James Ellis, Jr. was a man of many talents, in his spare time he repaired automobiles, landscaped, and worked in carpentry; James could fix and build anything! And always had a story to tell. In 2015 he retired from UFHealth/Shands Hospital after 30+ years in environmental services.
James was preceded in death by two sons, his parents and brother, Johnny Hampton Ellis all of New York state; a grandson and his wife, Evangelist Deloris Camps-Ellis of Gainesville, Fl.
Cherished memories will remain with his family in New York, Atlanta, Ga and here in North Central Florida including 3 daughters: Jamea Ellis, Angela Williams, Tonya Harris, and son: Kijofa Jamar Camps-Ellis. Siblings: Larry Ellis & Carolyn Woodard of Gainesville, Fl.
As James transitions he leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
