Obituary

Mr. Charles Akins III was born on October 27, 1950, in Gainesville, Florida, to Charles Akins, Jr., and Dorothy George. He was reared in Gainesville, Florida, and attended the Alachua County Public School System, and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1968. Following high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served until his honorable discharge. He worked for many years at Southern Vault as well as a laborer with various construction companies. He most recently worked on I-75 at the rest area as a Maintenance Technician.
Mr. Akins leaves to mourn: his wife, Agnes Akins; three children, Cassandra Akins, Charles Akins IV, and Willona Walker; his stepdaughter, Ja’Nise Goston; eight grandchildren; one great- grandchild; his brothers and sisters, David McPherson, Walter McPherson (deceased), Cynthia Williams of Pflugerville, Texas, Carol Philidelphia of Jonesboro, Georgia, Vivian Goston of Tallahassee, Florida, and Wayne (Mary) Akins of Micanopy, Florida; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and sorrowing friends.
