Alma Jean Henderson-Stephens was born on November 15, 1954 to the union of the late Ben and Jesse Blackmon-Henderson in Waldo, Florida. She received her education through Union County (Consolidated Class)
Alma was called home on June 4th, 2022 at approximately 4:25 pm at North Florida Regional Hospital in Gainesville, Florida.
As Alma aged, her health began to decline. She became a homebody. While at home she spent the majority of her time watching the Andy Griffin Show, listening to The Williams Brothers, Rance Allen and Silent Night by The Temptations on her stereo. She loved being in the presence of her children, grand-children as well as her great-grandchildren. They brought her so much joy. Before her illness, you would always find her, her husband Roy (The Driver) and 3 of her siblings who all precede her in death (Rosetta, Emma and Margaret) together somewhere shopping, laughing, joking and just having a good time. She loved to shop whether it be a yard sale, garage sale, goodwill and anything else in between. Alma had a caring and giving spirit. If she saw a need, she was there to help whether you wanted the assistance or not. She had her own business offering childcare services. She enjoyed having and being around the children.
Alma leaves to cherish her memories; the love of her lifeof 34 years and married for 26, Roy Stephens of Lake Butler, Florida; her children, Leonard Dix of Saint Petersburg, Florida, Terrance Dix (Nicole) of Gainesville, Florida, Shantana Paige (Laris) of Sanderson, Florida, Whitney Johnson, Royyell Stephens and Ke’AndreStephens of Lake Butler, Florida; 14 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; her brothers, Grady Henderson (Patsy) of Margaretta, Florida, Clifford Henderson and Eddie Henderson of Clinton, North Carolina; her sister Elizabeth Jordan of Lake Butler, Florida; her siblings, Woodrow Holmes, Ben Henderson, Willie Henderson, Lillie Jones, Minnie Davis, Mable Green, Rosetta Warren, Thorsha Henderson, Mary Ann Henderson and Margaret Henderson who all preceded her in death; her brother-in-law, Sylvester Warren of Gainesville, Florida; her sister-in-law, Ceyona Henderson Of Atlanta, GA; her god-children, Kiara Holland, Raven Givens, Ra’MoneRandolph, Ayden McKinney and Kayden Searcy, and ahost of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.
