“In Loving Memory of Mother Dorothy (Dot) Alexander”
Dorothy Mae (Mama Dot) Alexander was born on July 4, 1935 to the loving parents of the late Mr. Nathaniel Jefferies Sr. and the late gorgeous Mrs. Cornelia Dudley Jefferies Griggs of Jasper County
Mama Dot was educated in the Jasper County Public School system. She joined the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church at an early age where she faithfully served until her daughter became a minister in 1994.
Upon completion of her high school education, Mama Dot met and married her husband the late Mr. Nelson Alexander in 1953 and then moved to Atlanta, Ga. She was a leader in the community and worked as a housewife while helping her brothers in their businesses when needed. She could do it all with pride and dignity and never complained. Mama Dot only have one biological child but she raised and took care of many. Taking care of others was her passion and she loved every minute. There was no one that crossed Mama Dot’s path that needed help and she did not help them. She would clothe and feed you if you needed it. She catered for special events and anything anyone needed her to do she was always there. Mama Dot was born with a very special gift of knowing how to cook. Anything she wanted she knew how to fix it and make it taste like you got it from a five-star Restaurant. She was known for her Biscuits, Dressing, and Sweet Potato Cobbler and those special Homemade Chicken Tenders dipped in buttermilk. That’s who Mama Dot was, A young brilliant Betty Crocker!! She was an anointed woman of God with a special anointing power when praying for others. She often traveled with her daughter Pastor Mary Jefferies visiting different churches, spreading God’s word. She was affiliated with several churches, Life Changing Deliverance Ministries, Rhema Nation, All Nation Praise & Life Center.
